Pellet stoves are relatively easy to install, but careful considerations must be taken in preparation for this to ensure the safety of your family and your home. Therefore it is best to let a professional handle the project. For a pellet stove, an L-vent pipe is used to properly vent the appliance. This pipe is made from stainless steel and is typically 4 inches in diameter. The vent pipe for a pellet stove can be installed vertically through the roof or horizontally through an exterior wall. One of our experienced professionals will be happy to determine proper installation techniques and complete the installation of your new pellet stove in your home.

Pallet Stove Installation In Dubuque, IAWhy Choose a Pellet Stove?

Pellet fuel is both a renewable heating source and also reduces the existing impact on the amount of waste sent to landfills. Made from saw dust, wood chips and bark, this fuel source recycles materials from wood mills and other processes that leave wood scraps behind and turns them into a usable and affordable heating fuel. Pellet stoves offer combustion efficiencies over 90%. Not only are pellet stoves an environmentally sound way to heat your home, there are no insects, dirt or bark brought into your home with pellet fuel. Pellets take up lots less space to store than cordwood. A winter’s supply of pellets for an average home takes up a space roughly 6’ x 6’ x 6’ high. Store pellets in a dry area in your basement, utility room or shed.

Stop wasting heat by overusing your central heating system. Instead, save money and zone heat with an energy efficient pellet stove. If you want to save money, these stoves are ideal for heating the main living areas in your home.

Choosing your Pellets

Two different grades of pellets exist, standard and premium, but we always recommend that only premium grade pellets be used to heat your home. Premium grade pellets account for about 95% of all pellets produced. Within the premium grade of pellets, there are many differences between individual brands. Different pellets may contain different types of wood such as soft woods, hard woods, lots of bark, binders and/or additives, high amounts of saw dust or a combination of these. Select a pellet that offers low ash content and high heat output. Too much bark or too many additives in pellets may clog the auger/delivery system of the appliance. Typically the darker the pellet, the more bark the pellet contains. Therefore, lighter pellets are usually the best type to burn. Some pellet appliances can burn bark more efficiently than others, though.
